50% by 2020

50% is a national target that Ealing must reach by 2020. The borough is embarking on a drive to boost our recycling rate and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.

There are lots of small things you can do to help us reach 50% by 2020.

Recycling rate is currently 41%

Fun with textiles

The recycling team will be heading out to the Jazz festival (26 July) to provide some fun activities for the whole family to enjoy, with a textile theme.

Lots of textiles, clothes, bags, belts, curtains, linen, shoes and blankets are needlessly put in to the bin each year which could otherwise be reused, ‘upcycled’ or recycled. Join us and create glam bags using unwanted clothes, accessories, paint and stencils. You can also bring your own textile bits and bobs to decorate bags, a great way to see something discarded turn in to something new.

Find out more about how you can recycle textiles in your area.
