Residents get clear sacks for dry mixed recycling if they live in an area where wheeled bins cannot be used.

Clear sacks make it easy for you to recycle and stops it going to waste.

What can you recycle in your clear sack

Yes, please - put in your clear sacks:

  • cardboard and thin card
  • paper, envelopes and junk mail
  • newspapers and magazines
  • plastic bottles, pots and tubs
  • metal tins and cans, aerosol cans and clean foil
  • glass bottles and jars
  • food and drink cartons

No, thank you:

  • polystyrene - put in your rubbish bin or bag
  • broken glass - wrap it securely in thick paper or a box and place it in your rubbish bin or bag
  • nappies - put in your rubbish bin or bag
  • cling film, crisp packets, bread bags and any other plastic bags and wrappings - recycle these at supermarkets
  • food waste - use your food waste recycling service if available or put into rubbish bin or bag
  • garden waste - use your garden waste recycling service

How to recycle other items

  • Clothes that can still be worn can be donated to charity shops
  • Batteries are accepted in most supermarkets and shops that sell batteries

Using your clear sacks

After filling your clear sack with recycling, tie the sack securely.

Your clear sack will be collected weekly from a designated area on your collection day

Put your sack out for collection before 7am on your collection day only, or follow your timed collection schedule.

You will automatically receive a pack of 20 sacks, 3 times a year in February, June and October.
