Mixed clear sack recycling service
Residents get clear sacks for dry mixed recycling if they live in an area where wheeled bins cannot be used.
Clear sacks make it easy for you to recycle and stops it going to waste.
What can you recycle in your clear sack
Yes, please - put in your clear sacks:
- cardboard and thin card - flatten cardboard to make more space in your recycling bin
- paper, envelopes and junk mail
- newspapers and magazines
- plastic bottles, pots and tubs. Including non-black plastic plant pots
- plastic tubes such as toothpaste tubes
- metal tins and cans, aerosol cans and clean foil
- glass bottles and jars
- food and drink cartons
No, thank you:
- polystyrene: put in your rubbish bin or bag
- broken glass: wrap it securely in thick paper or a box and place it in your rubbish bin or bag
- nappies: put in your rubbish bin or bag
- food waste - use your food waste recycling service if available or put into rubbish bin or bag
- garden waste - use your garden waste recycling service or book a slot to take to a reuse and recycling centre
- soft plastics: do not put these in your recycling bin. This includes plastic bags, cling film, bread bags, crisp packets and other thin plastics. Many supermarkets collect soft plastics for recycling
- clothes & textiles - do not put in your rubbish or recycling
- batteries can be recycled at collection points in most supermarkets and shops that sell batteries - do not put in your rubbish or recycling as they can cause fires if crushed
Using your clear sacks
After filling your clear sack with recycling, tie the sack securely.
Your clear sack will be collected weekly from a designated area on your collection day
Put your sack out for collection before 7am on your collection day only, or follow your timed collection schedule.
You will automatically receive a pack of 20 sacks, 3 times a year in February, June and October.
