Applying for a council home

How to apply

Online housing register form

After considering the other options available, if you still wish to apply to go onto the council's housing register you will need to complete an online housing register form via Locata.

Create username and password

You will be asked to create a username and password. Please make a note of these because they are confidential. If you forget your username or password you will need to create new ones.

Registration number

When you complete the form, you will be given an online registration number. Please use this whenever you make an enquiry about your application.

Application decision

It will take about ten days for your application to be assessed. You will get a letter or email telling you whether you have been accepted. You will also get information on your band and priority date.

Change of circumstances

Examples of a change of circumstances include a change of address or number of people in your household. If you are on the housing register and your circumstances change, please complete the change of circumstances form. To do this, log in to your Locata account and click the 'my details' tab. You will then see a link to the change of circumstances form. Once you have submitted it, we will reassess your application.

Need help applying?

If you are unable to apply online yourself, you may want to ask a member of your family to help you do this. If you do not have access to the internet, you can use public access computers at Perceval House or in libraries throughout the borough.

For information and advice about applying, or if you have difficulty making your application, please call the applications team on 020 8825 8800 or 7274 or email locatahelp@ealing.gov.uk.
