Paying for your care

Completing your financial assessment

Fill in the online financial assessment form to find out if you qualify for help towards your social care and support and how much you may pay.

To submit the form for a financial assessment, you will need your social services reference number, which can be found in the email or letter inviting you to complete your financial assessment. If you do not have this reference number, please contact us via telephone on 0208 825 7066 or email financialcontributions@ealing.gov.uk for help.

Financial assessment form

If you have savings over £23,250 or sign to pay for the full cost of your care and support

You will not be eligible for financial support from the council.

We will carry out a “light touch” financial assessment and write to you to confirm that you must pay the full cost of your care and support. Charges apply from the date your services start.

You can ask us to arrange and manage your care and support services for you; we will charge an administration fee to cover the costs the council incurs in setting up your care and support.

You may be entitled to Attendance Allowance or Personal Independence Payment – from the Department for Work and Pensions.

If you refuse to complete a financial assessment or do not provide details of your finances

You may be charged the full cost of your care and support and not be eligible for financial support from the council as we do not have a completed financial assessment.

In some instances, we may use financial information available to us from the Department of Work and Pensions and/or council’s benefits service to calculate your charge. A light touch assessment of your care charge will be based on currently available information and will be backdated to the start of your care placement.

After you have completed the form and any supporting evidence

A financial assessment officer will review the information and supporting evidence you have provided. They will complete checks with in house departments such as council tax and housing benefit as well as the Department of Work and Pensions.

We will write to you to confirm your weekly assessed charge and provide you with a breakdown detailing how your charge has been calculated.

Every month you will receive an invoice confirming your charges, failure to make payments will result in recover action.
