Acton High Street Outer London Fund (OLF)

In August 2011, the council successfully bid for £500,000 from the Mayor of London's Outer London Fund (OLF). The aim of this funding is to make tangible improvements to high streets with the money having to be spent by April 2012.

The council has identified some initial ideas for delivery and has been consulting on these. The improvements will be rolled out from Spring 2012 onwards. Some of the concept components of the OLF funding include:

  • improvements to signage and wayfinding
  • St Mary's Church public realm improvements
  • tree replacement project in King Street
  • exploring opportunities for a new market kiosk
  • business support/start up training and grants
  • community events
  • landscape, lighting and public realm enhancements to the High Street
  • lighting and public art project on Acton Vale Bridge
  • a series of permanent and temporary public art projects
  • activation of some of the key areas around The Mount such as outside of Morrisons and by the bus stop
  • uplighting of key buildings
  • bunting
  • visual merchandising
  • funding support for a traders group
