Housing Payments
The Housing Payment (Crisis and Resilience Fund) scheme provides financial one off or short-term support towards housing costs such as a rent shortfall, moving costs or rent deposits or advance payments.
To be eligible for this support, you must be receiving either housing benefit or the Universal Credit housing costs element.
Discretionary council tax discounts
The discretionary council tax discount scheme (DCTD) is a discount that is applied to your council tax account and reduces your council tax liability. This is made at the council's discretion in cases where it considers that extra help with council tax liability is needed.
- you may be eligible for a DCTD even if you are not in receipt of council tax reduction but you are experiencing financial hardship
- a DCTD cannot be used to help with housing costs
