School admissions

Going to a new school is a very important step for your child. Ealing Council wants to make the process of applying for a school place as easy as possible for parents and carers.

There are two types of admissions, main round admissions and in-year admissions.

It is important that you know what type you are applying for:

Main round admissions

Main round admissions applies to the ‘main intake’ of pupils who are due to start primary school, junior school or high school in September 2015 as follows:

  • Pupils who are due to start in the reception class at primary school in September 2015
  • Pupils who are currently in Year 2 at an infant school and will be transferring to junior school in September 2015
  • Pupils who are currently in Year 6 at primary school and will be transferring to high school in September 2015

In-year admissions

In-year admissions applies to all pupils who are applying for a school place outside of the ‘main intake’ of pupils as follows:

  • Pupils who are out of school and require an immediate school place in primary or high school in Ealing
  • Pupils who are currently attending a school and want to transfer to a different primary or high school in Ealing

Primary school offer guidance

Parents that applied on time to start primary school or transfer from infant to junior school in September 2015 will find out the outcome of their application on 16 April. Find out what to do next.
