School waiting lists

Waiting lists for primary schools and high schools

If your child does not get into their preferred school, they will be added to the waiting list for any higher-ranked schools.

Late applications will also join the waiting list after the national offer day.

Waiting list positions depend on primary school admissions criteria or high school admissions criteria, not on how long a child has been on the list.

Waiting list positions can change often, and a child may move up or down as new applications come in.

If a place opens at a full school because someone declines their offer, it will go to the highest priority child on the waiting list.

See our late offer timetable for primary schools or late offer timetable for high schools for guidance.

The admissions team cannot confirm an offer until you get your confirmation letter.
