Crime and anti-social behaviour in Southall
Crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) in Southall is linked to a relatively small number of people and locations.
Recent work by the council, Metropolitan Police, NHS and other partners has identified issues including:
- drug use and supply
- rough sleeping
- street drinking
- public disorder
- litter
- discarded drug equipment
- other public nuisance
A joint operation in June and July 2026 resulted in more than 100 arrests. Weapons have been seized and enforcement action has included prison recalls, criminal investigations, injunctions and dispersal powers.
The work found that a small number of repeat offenders were responsible for a disproportionate amount of the ASB causing the most concern to residents and businesses.
Importantly, this is not simply a crime issue. Through the council's Parkguard service, almost half of the people identified were assessed as vulnerable. Many were experiencing homelessness, addiction, poor physical or mental health, or difficult housing circumstances.
This shows that enforcement alone will not solve every issue. Alongside action against offenders, partners are continuing to provide outreach, treatment, safeguarding and support.
Overall, Southall has seen progress through better intelligence, disruption of criminal activity and a stronger understanding of the issues involved. However, continued joint working will be needed to maintain and build on these improvements.
