Refuse collections

Your wheeled black bin is for household rubbish only.

Anything that cannot be recycled along with household rubbish can be placed in this bin, the less you put in here, the less goes to landfill.

Some households are unsuitable for wheeled bins. Instead, these properties will either present loose sacks or will have access to communal rubbish bins.

Kerbside properties

Standard rubbish bins are 180 litres in size.

Larger rubbish bins are available but only for properties which meet a certain criteria. If your property qualifies for alarger sized bin, your current bin will be removed.

A new or replacement standard bin costs £50, and the larger bins costing £75.

Your rubbish will be collected on alternate weeks, check your collection schedule to find out when your rubbish is collected. Please present your bin within the boundary at the front of your property by 7am on your collection day.

If your bin has been lost, stolen or damaged please contact customer services on 020 8825 6000 or order a new wheelie bin online.

Flats above shops or estates

If you live in a flat above a shop or in an estate, you will either present loose black sacks at a designated collection point or dispose of your rubbish in a communal rubbish bin.

For properties that present loose sacks, we advise that you present your rubbish out in the morning to avoid animals ripping open your sacks. However, if you cannot do this please present it as late as possible the evening before.

Presenting waste more than 1 day outside of your collection day may be seen as fly tipping.

Residents or managing agents who want to change from sacks to communal bins should contact customer services 020 8825 6000 or, submit a request through your online account. The site will be assessed for its suitability.

Communal bins can be purchased from the council, and collections will be free of charge.

For any new build developments, we recommend you read through the waste management guidelines. This will ensure that the arrangements for storing, collections and managing waste are appropriate.
