Our bulky waste collection service is for the removal of large or heavy items from residents properties in the borough of Ealing. It is for those items that will not fit into a standard wheeled bin. We can collect large items from your home for a fee.
Before booking a bulky waste collection, if the items are in good usable condition give them to others. Save the money by advertising on Freegle, Olio or other free reuse sites. You could also contact local charity shops to pick up your items for them to reuse or sell.
Costs
- £30 for up to 6 items
- there are no discounts of refunds available for this service
Special collections for more than 6 items are charged at an agreed rate. Please apply for a quote on My Account if you have more than 6 items.
There is no limit on the number of collections booked in a year.
Items must be easy for the collection team to access at the front of the collection address.
Where we do not collect
We do not collect from:
- red routes such as A40 or North Circular
- businesses, commercial premises or sites
- back gardens
- items left on the pavement
For businesses bulky waste collections, you will need to arrange a collection from a licensed waste contractor instead. Check for companies with the correct legal paperwork on Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs register

What we collect
We can collect from your home bulky items including:
- sofas
- beds: a bed base and mattress will be counted as 2 items
- fridges
- freezers
- wardrobes
- washing machines
The above items unless specified counts at one item. Please list each item separately. Items must be of a size and weight that two people can carry.
One item also is:
- a box containing several items counts as one item. The box needs to be liftable by a single person.
- broken furniture must be put into a bundle and tied securely together, bagged or boxed. If the items are not attached together, it counts as more than one item.
What we do not collect
We will not collect:
- any DIY waste. To have DIY waste collected you will need to get a bulky waste quote. Alternatively residents can bring in 2x 50L rubble bags or one item no larger than 2m x 0.75m x 0.7m for free to Greenford Road reuse and recycling centre
- builders rubbish
- bricks
- concrete
- iron baths
- pianos
- asbestos
- earth, sand or gravel
- tins of paint
- oil
- boilers or chemical storage tanks
- gas cylinders
- tyres
- batteries
- dead animals or domestic pets
- any items that have been in contact with mould or a pest infestation are not accepted. These items are a potential health hazard to our team.
- other items that could cause harm to our team

Booking a bulky waste collection
Before making a booking, you must read our terms and conditions. You will be able to choose the collection date. If you do not choose a date, you get the next available slot.
You will need:
- number of items
- what each item that needs to be collected
- photo, if you have one. Please upload them when booking
- credit or debit card
The booking form should take approximately six minutes to complete.
What happens next
We will not contact you before the collection. We will only collect items that you have listed for collection and that the collection team can get to.
We will collect items between 7am and 3pm on the scheduled collection day.
Once you have booked your collection:
- items need to be left outside at the front of your property and where they can be seen. They need to be inside your boundary at the pavement level but not on the pavement. Place them out by 7am on the scheduled collection date
- only put out the items that you have listed in the booking for collection
- leave all listed items where they are can be seen, at pavement level. We will not collect from the rear of your property or garden
- mattresses and sofas should be covered so they are kept dry where possible.
- do not obstruct the pavement or street
If you live on a housing estate or in a block of flats:
- items must be placed outside of the block by 7am but only on the day of your collection
- only put out the items that you have listed in the booking for collection
- attach a note to the items stating that they will be collected by Greener Ealing. Put on your collection number on it or they will be treated as fly tipping (for which you could be fined)
- if your block has a front communal garden, place the items within it in clear sight but near to the boundary or bin room. We will not collect from the rear of the property or garden.
- if your block does not have a front garden, place the items in clear sight near the boundary or bin room. Make sure they do not obstruct the entrance to the block, access to the bin room, pavement or street
