The regeneration project
Ealing Council, as of 2024, is midway through carrying out this major transformation of Copley Close, which also includes public realm works that will greatly improve the appearance of open spaces, ease the movement of pedestrians and traffic, and better combine the area with the surrounding neighbourhood.
The regeneration of Copley Close is being completed in seven phases
Phase (number of properties) | Area | Progress |
---|---|---|
1 (32) |
Worcester Court: |
Completed December 2016 |
2 (33) | Alton Court: 33 new-build homes for private sale and shared ownership on the site of former Anglesey Court |
Completed January 2018 |
3 (21) |
Warwick Court: |
The contractor is currently refurbishing 18 existing homes, alongside building 3 new homes for social rent. There have been several delays to the project, owing largely to the pandemic restrictions and implementation of an 18T weight restriction on the box tunnel over which this site sits. Completion is now expected end 2024. |
4 (31) | Darlington Court: 2 new-build houses and 29 new flats located on and around the site of the former Warden’s flat. All London affordable rent units retained by Ealing |
Completed January 2019 |
5 (100) | Copley Central Refurbishment: 100 flats - 65 socially tenanted and 35 leasehold homes. Blocks in this phase: Denbigh, Devon, Dorset, Glamorgan and Gloucester Courts |
This is an extensive refurbishment program with improvements to the public realm. Work to scope the project has taken place and surveys of existing blocks and resident needs surveys have been undertaken. Detailed design is being progressed, and will then be followed by a wider review to make sure this scheme is viable and offers the required value for money expected by the council |
6 (201) | Copley Central: 201 new build homes (85 affordable homes, 81 homes for sale, and 35 discount market rent homes) as well as shop, office accommodation and a community centre |
Completed summer 2023. The new shop should open shortly; alongside the new Hanwell housing hub and other council offices being populated. The new community centre delivered as part of this phase, alongside the two park areas, are now in use. |
7 (339) | Greater Copley: The existing plan is for 6 new-build homes, plus the refurbishment of 333 flats at Monmouth, Oxford, Paddington, Pembroke, Radnor, Shropshire, Somerset and Stafford Courts |
This is a complex and lengthy refurbishment programme that would need residents to move to other homes whilst some works are being carried out. The phase is subject to an ongoing viability review. |
