Sheltered housing

Sheltered housing is a type of accommodation designed for older people, usually over 60, who need support to live independently.

Residents have their own unfurnished flats, and some flats are connected to shared facilities like a common room, laundry, or guest room.

There are 34 sheltered housing schemes in the borough, with sizes ranging from 17 to 62 flats.

The average number of flats is between 30 and 35.

Tenants have the same tenancy conditions as other council tenants, except they do not have the right to buy.
