Moving home

Apply for a transfer

If your home does not work for you anymore and you want to move, you need to apply through the Locata scheme on the Ealing Housing Options website

Demand for council housing in the borough is much higher than what is available.

Update your information

To include or remove someone from your transfer application, update your details on the Ealing Housing Options website

Searching for a home

It is a choice-based lettings scheme, so you search for a home yourself.

All vacant homes are advertised weekly on the Ealing Housing Options website

These properties are open to bids from existing council tenants and people on the housing register.

Registration details

Once registered, you will see:

  • your priority band and date
  • your Locata ID number
  • whether you are a homeseeker or a transfer
  • the maximum number of beds you can bid for

Bidding for properties

Use the Ealing Housing Options website to bid for suitable properties.

Read the adverts carefully to make sure you qualify.

Adverts will tell you who can apply, such as homeseekers, transfers, household size, and mobility levels.

After bidding closes, a shortlist is made based on priority band and date. The higher priority bands will be higher on the list.

As your priority date gets older, you will rank better on the shortlist compared to others in the same priority band as yours.

Your shortlist position will also depend on how many other bidders the property attracts.
