Right to appeal
If you are unhappy with the property valuation, you can appeal to have the price redetermined by an independent district valuer.
You must do this within 3 months of the offer of sale. The district valuer's decision is final, whether it increases or decreases the valuation.
The council's valuer or district valuer's inspection is not a full survey. It only assesses the property's value, so there may be defects not discovered during this limited inspection.
Any known defects will be detailed in the offer of sale, and it is recommended to hire an independent surveyor for a full survey before completing your purchase.
