Private rented property licensing

On 1 January 2017, Ealing Council introduced two licensing schemes to help improve standards in the borough’s private rented sector.

If you own or manage a privately rented house in multiple occupation (HMO) in Ealing it will be a legal requirement to obtain a property licence. In some areas of the borough you will also need a licence to rent out a house or flat to a single household.

The additional and selective licensing schemes will run for five years, until 31 December 2021.
