Regeneration
The previous developer partner, REAL, in consultation with estate residents and the council submitted a planning application for the redevelopment of the whole estate as well as a detailed application for phase one. These were approved and a reserved matters planning application was granted in 2021. The scheme will provide approximately 503 new homes, a new community facility and a local shop.
Tenants in phase one (Humber, Colne and Dee Courts) are currently being moved to other accommodation and all leaseholder properties within phase one have now been bought back by the council. Phase one is due to be empty during the winter of 2024, after which time these buildings will be demolished and new properties built.
The redevelopment will take around 3 years to build each of 3 phases. However, due to the council’s developing partner going into administration in late 2023 it is not known at this stage when the redevelopment will be complete. Residents and stakeholders will be kept updated.
