High Lane estate

Current status and next steps

Phase one will be available for occupation in summer 2023.

Decanting is underway for tenants in phase one and negotiations to buy back leasehold homes is also being progressed. Decanting is the process of moving tenants out of the accommodation to alternative accommodation.

Resident involvement

Ealing Council has been working with estate residents for number of years through the Residents Steering Group (RSG). Since the partner developer was approved a new RSG has formed to oversee the estate regeneration process and to ensure the residents voice is heard in decision making.

The residents steering group meets once a month at the community centre.

A newsletter is sent to all estate residents roughly six times a year.

Ballot of estate residents

Ealing Council has made a bid to the Greater London Authority for a financial contribution towards the regeneration of the High Lane estate to allow us to increase the number of affordable homes on the new estate. A condition of the funding is that we must hold a ballot of estate residents to confirm that they agree with the estate regeneration plans.

The ballot was held at the end of 2018 and 90% of those voting voted in favour of the council's proposals.

In the summer of 2019 Cabinet authority will be sought to enter into a development agreement with Rydon Construction after which the estate design process will start again. Design workshops with the estate residents will start in the autumn with exhibitions for estate and neighbouring residents in the winter. A planning application is due in March 2020.
