ESAB is a legal partnership set up under the Care Act 2014. It is made up of senior people from different organisations who help stop abuse and neglect.
The objective of ESAB is to keep adults safe. They help adults who need care or support, especially if they are at risk and cannot protect themselves.
What ESAB believes
ESAB believes that working together helps keep people safe. Different services work as a team to:
- protect people’s rights
- keep adults safe from harm
- stop abuse, neglect, and unfair treatment
They also work with other groups, like children’s services, learning services, and community safety teams.
How ESAB works
ESAB has different groups that support its work, including:
- the main board
- smaller working groups
ESAB looks at serious cases to learn what can be done better. We publish these reviews and regularly check that changes are being made and are helping to keep people safe.
Who they work with
ESAB works with organisations such as:
- NHS services
- police
- fire and ambulance services
- community and support groups
