Blue badge scheme

Apply for or renew online

Apply/renew a blue badge

If you are renewing your blue badge please apply 10 weeks before your current badge expires. It is your responsibility to ensure that your application is submitted in plenty of time to be processed.

Documents needed

Within the application form, you will be asked to upload a passport photograph and evidence to support your application.

Documents do not need to be originals and do not need to be certified. We will accept clear photographs of documents uploaded to the form from a smart phone.

You will need to send us:

  • Proof of your identity - such as a copy of your birth or adoption certificate, marriage or divorce certificate, or valid driving licence or passport. This helps prevent fraudulent applications.
  • Proof of your address - a copy of your council tax or utility bill, a benefit entitlement letter or letter from a hospital, addressed to you at your home and dated within the last 12 months. For children under 16, any official document containing your address such as hospital letter or medical prescription will be accepted.
  • Copies of any other documents and evidence we need to support your application. This will usually be a complete benefit award letter that shows your entitlement or recent medical evidence to verify your level of disability.

You will find a checklist list of all the documents you need to upload at the end of the online application form.

To make sure we can process your application as quickly as possible, please double check you have provided us with all the correct information and supporting documentation we need. Incomplete applications will be closed if the requested information is not received within four weeks.

What happens next?

From the date a complete application and all supporting documentation is received, applications that automatically qualify for a blue badge can take up to four weeks to process.

Applications that do not automatically qualify and need further assessment may need to be referred to a third party and can take up to eight weeks to process.

Ealing Council is not able to give you a status update on your blue badge application unless the processing time has passed. Please make sure you allow enough time for your application to be processed before your badge expires.

A blue badge costs £10. Payment must be received before a badge can be issued.  If your application is approved, you will be contacted to make a payment.

Should your application be unsuccessful, you will be informed in writing.
