Street parties, events and processions

Street parties

Street parties and fetes are a traditional part of community life; they are a simple way for us to get to know our neighbours and meet members of our community.

Your application must be in line with the agreed ‘street party format’ below.

Street party format

General

  • the applicant must be a resident of the borough of Ealing
  • organised by and for local residents only
  • on a Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday
  • between the hours of 10am and 7pm
  • less than 250 people attending
  • takes place on a residential street

At the party

  • only tables and chairs allowed on the road - no temporary structures such as marquees, stages or bouncy castles
  • food should not be cooked at the party; only indoors or in advance - no barbecues are allowed on the road
  • no commercial activity or trading taking place such as burger vans, sale of other items including alcohol, or raising money for a cause or charity
  • does not include licensable activities such as sale of alcohol or live music - see Alcohol, entertainment and late night refreshment licences for details of regulated entertainment which may require a licence. Incidental background music is permitted

Your responsibilities

  • consult with affected residents and businesses before applying
  • source, set up and remove road closure signs and barriers
  • ensure that emergency access is maintained during the party
  • clean up and remove rubbish and recycling after the party (rubbish should not be left in the streets)

If the party you are planning does not match the above format, it may be classed as a ‘Street event or procession’ - if you are not sure, please email the event service.
