The council is committed to supporting our communities and businesses to build resilience and to be prepared for when emergencies occur.
The council, in partnership with Borough Resilience Forum members, do this by:
- making information available on our website on what emergencies can occur in the borough and how to prepare for them
- hosting training sessions and workshops with community groups and voluntary sector partners. Recent sessions, raising awareness of local risks and how partners respond to, and recover from, emergencies took place in September 2024, November 2024, January 2025 and April 2025
- promoting internationally recognised Business Continuity Awareness Week, raising awareness of how businesses can protect themselves from disruption and recover
- delivering local exercises to validate our response arrangements, where partners, residents and businesses are invited to participate and learn from one another to ensure we have the right capabilities and capacity to help those affected
