Next steps
The council has taken a number of reactive and proactive measures to address the issues raised by the voluntary undertaking, as well as wider reforms to transform our housing services, and improve the experience, safety and support we provide to residents. Including:
- reimagining our housing service delivery model - increasing resources in targeted areas, and the competence of our critical staff in underperforming services
- improving our internal governance and oversight - with more regular performance reviews and accountability sessions
- improving our resident engagement offer - expanding this with more and diverse ways that residents can engage with us, scrutinise our services and drive the improvements in our service delivery
- council officers have also been working through a robust compliance recovery plan, the aim of which are to:
- improve performance management and accountability in our compliance services
- establish a competence framework and strategic oversight of works
- improve the way we manage our contractors
- better manage risks to residents
- review policies, procedures and operating processes
- improve our data and record keeping
