In September 2019, Ealing Council’s safer communities team introduced a boroughwide PSPO, with the aim of creating a healthier and safer borough for all residents, visitors and businesses.
The PSPO includes parks, town centres, and Ealing housing estates. The Order introduces requirements and prohibitions that allow the council to target a range of anti-social behaviour across the different spaces, which residents and visitors of the borough have told us were causing a detrimental impact on them. Data was also analysed from across the Safer Ealing Partnership and over 1,400 Ealing residents took part in the formal consultation.
The council and its partners continue to take an approach in responding to anti-social behaviour through education, engagement and enforcement. The PSPO is enforced by police through dispersals, fixed penalty notices and ultimately prosecutions.
