Public spaces protection order

A public spaces protection order (PSPO) aims to improve the quality of life for residents.  It gives power to council enforcement officers and police to deter trouble and deal with persistent problems.

The order bans problematic behaviour. People who refuse to abide by the prohibitions when challenged will be subject to a £100 fixed penalty notice. If the fine is not paid, court proceedings may be started, which can increase the fine to up to £1,000.
