Government financial support

The following are provided by the government:

Cost of living payments -  The next round of the government’s cost of living payments are due in February 2024. Check what you are entitled to.

Help for households - Information about the range of cost of living support available from central government.

Household support fund - The household support fund provides help directly to eligible families, pensioners and care leavers to go towards food and essential items.

Disability

Disability cost of living payment - A one-off payment of £150 will be made if you have a registered disability.

Energy

Energy price guarantee - The government’s energy price guarantee reduces the unit cost of electricity and gas for households on prepayment meters, so that a typical household will save on average £40 a year.

Home energy grants (Help to Heat) - Find out what grants you could apply for to make your home more energy efficient.

Older people

Pensioner cost of living payment - If you are a pensioner and you claim the winter fuel allowance you will be entitled to a one-off £300 cost of living payment.

Seasonal

Cold weather payments - If you receive eligible benefits and the average temperature is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over seven consecutive days, you could get a cold weather payment.

Warm home discount - A one-off discount off your electricity bill if you receive eligible benefits.More information is available via the government’s cost of living support fact sheet.

Winter fuel payments - If you were born on or before 25 September 1957 you could get between £250 and £600 to help you pay your heating bills. If you have not received a payment and think you may be eligible you 31 March 2024 is the deadline to make a claim (Check if you need to claim).”
