Traffic calming

Traffic calming measures help lower traffic speeds and volumes and contribute to a safer residential environment in Ealing.

Typical traffic-calming measures include:

  • road humps
  • directional signage
  • speed cushions
  • road narrowing
  • mini-roundabouts

Requesting traffic-calming measures

The transport team are responsible for traffic management and road safety issues within the borough. The team seeks ways to manage congestion and provide facilities for road users by planning traffic calming schemes.

Requests for traffic-calming measures can be made to the traffic planning team in writing. You will need to provide the following information:

  • exact location
  • type of traffic-calming measure required
  • a description of the problem
  • your name and contact details so one of our transport planners can contact you to discuss

Requests are prioritised on the basis of recorded injury accidents, traffic speeds, and traffic volume.  The number of roads that can have measures implemented is determined by funding and the street's priority rating.
