Traffic surveys

Traffic surveys are undertaken in the spring and autumn each year, and are based on priorities including number of collisions, feedback from residents and councillors, and requirements for data collection to support potential schemes. Results from traffic surveys are used to inform interventions where necessary.

Automatic Traffic Counts, which are tubes placed across the carriageway, are usually used to collect data. These capture the volume of vehicles passing over a specific point on the carriageway over a given period of time. They also capture speed and type of vehicle.

The most recent batch of surveys was undertaken between 28 November 2023 and 13 December 2023 at the following locations:

  • Montpelier (Castlebar Road, Castlebar Hill, Woodfield Road)
  • Ealing Common (Gunnersbury Crescent, Tring Avenue, Carbery Avenue, Lillian Avenue, Wolverton Gardens, Leopold Road, Kingsbridge Avenue)
  • Ealing Broadway (Windsor Road, Hamilton Road, Gordon Road)
  • Northfields and Boston Manor (Boston Road, Elthorne Park Road, Leighton Road, Elthorne Avenue, Hessel Road)
  • Coronation Road
