Restrictions within conservation areas
In conservation areas, normal permitted development rights are restricted. This enables more control over the size, design and location of extensions and alterations. Check if planning permission required.
Further restrictions affecting specific conservation areas
Under Article 4 of the General Permitted Development Order, six conservation areas are subject to further restrictions on development:
- Bedford Park
- Brentham Garden Estate
- Churchfields (Half Acre Road)
- Ealing Town Centre (The Grove)
- Hanger Hill Garden Estate
- Hanger Hill (Haymills) Estate.
In most of these areas planning permission must be obtained for all residential extensions and minor alterations, porches, exterior painting, means of enclosure, vehicular access and hardstandings. On the Hanger Hills (Haymills) Estate restrictions apply to parts of the site visible from the public highway and includes outbuildings rear of the property.
