What you can expect from us
Request for a site visit on an in-flight building regulation application
Requests for a building inspector to attend site that are received before 3pm will typically be scheduled for the following day (Monday to Friday). While we are unable to offer specific appointment times, inspections may be requested for either a morning (9am to 1pm) or afternoon (midday to 4pm) slot. Availability for preferred slots cannot always be guaranteed.
Reporting a dangerous structure
An officer will attend the site to investigate the reports of dangerous structures within 2 hours of notification.
Reporting unauthorised building work
Reports of unauthorised building work will be assessed within 2 full working days of receipt.
Acknowledging receipt of a building regulation application
Applications for building control approval with full plans and building notices will be acknowledged within 5 working days.
Checking applications for building control approval with full plans for compliance
A full plans approval or a list of queries or requests for further information will be sent within 5 weeks or longer if agreed.
Issuing a completion certificate
A completion certificate will be provided within 8 weeks subject to the building regulation check being satisfactory.
