Sponsor a tree in a park

You may be looking for a way to celebrate the life of a loved one, mark an important event such as a wedding or an anniversary, or just find a thoughtful gift.

Having a tree planted in one of our local parks maybe just the thing. It’s certainly a great way to create a lasting legacy. As it grows, it will provide a huge range of ecosystem benefits for many decades, maybe even hundreds of years, helping improve the local environment.

Celebration trees

We have teamed up with the charity, Trees for Streets, to make it easy to get a tree planted in one of our parks. We call these celebration trees. They are an extension of our very successful memorial tree scheme. You can still have a dedication plaque installed with your sponsored tree, but now for a wider range of celebrations.

You will be asked to donate £400 to have a celebration tree planted in your choice of park. For practical reasons, we will water these trees. If you would like to have a plaque installed (cast aluminium), this will be an additional £450.

How it works

  1. Choose your preferred park.
  2. Pick one of the pre-selected locations.
  3. Fill in a simple online application and make your donation.
  4. A nursery grown 2.5 and 3 metre tall 'instant impact' tree will be planted between November and March.

Maintenance of a celebration tree

We will make every effort to maintain your tree, but as it will be on a public site, the council is not responsible for any damage or vandalism. We will guarantee the tree against defect (drought, poor quality stock and poor quality maintenance) until established, which usually takes 1-2 years.
