Ealing Council is responsible for street lights on public roads, parks and some roads on housing estates.
Use this form to tell us about a faulty street light, zebra crossing light, lit road sign or bollard and to report a concern about the lighting level.
Before you start
Do not complete this form to report:

emergency defects which need to be reported by telephone on 0800 015 8785:
- exposed wires due to door mising
- knocked down due to a road traffic accident
- the unit is leaning heavily
- the lantern unit, the sign plate or the bracket are hanging
- 3 or more lights are out
- bollard missing or knocked over
- graffiti or flyposting (unless it is on a street light)
- street light faults on private roads
- street light faults on roads maintained by Transport for London (red routes, A40, A406)
- traffic light faults. These should be reported to Transport for London
You will need
- the location of the faulty street light, including the nearest door number, road or landmark
- to describe the problem
- photos of the street light (if you have any)
- lamp post or bollard number (if you have it)
Uploading supporting documents
We may ask you to upload some documents.
For example, photos of the faulty light.
This is very helpful if it has been damaged by a vehicle.
- accepted file types: Word (docx), Acrobat (pdf), Excel (xlsx), Plain text (txt)
- zip files can't be uploaded
- we also accept photos taken on phones and tablets and the following image file types - jpeg, gif, png.
- there is a maximum individual file size per document of 50MB
What happens next
We will investigate within 5 working days.
Where possible, dangerous faults will be made safe within 1 hour.

Response times
- 1 hour for missing door covers, exposed wires, knocked down posts or bollards
- 5 working days for flickering lights or lights on permanently
- 15 working days for complete replacement, such as a post or light unit
- 25 working days for lights out (possibly a further 10 working days for electrical disconnection and then re-connection)
