Biodiversity Action Plan

Biodiversity is the term used to describe all living things on Earth. It includes the diversity at species, genetic and ecosystem level.

Following the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, the government implemented a hierarchy of biodiversity action plans also know as a BAP.  This required all councils to prepare plans for conserving and enhancing local habitats and wild species. There is a UK BAP and London BAP, which both influence the Ealing BAP

Ealing’s BAP was implemented in 1999, with a local partnership of interested stakeholders and Ealing Council.  The overall objective is to conserve and enhance habitats and species within the borough that are considered to be important on a local and global scale.
