Ealing's tenancy strategy

The Tenancy Strategy 2012/15 sets out the council's approach and priorities, providing guidance to social housing providers operating in the borough to inform their policies and practices on tenure and rents, in light of recent changes introduced. The strategy fulfils the statutory duty under the Localism Act by providing a broad strategic framework for social housing providers operating in the borough. 

Empty property strategy

Our Empty Property Strategy sets out how we can bring empty properties back into use to improve the environment, reduce nuisance and increase the supply of decent and affordable housing for households in housing need.

Ealing supporting people strategy  

The Supporting People Strategy (pdf) sets out how Ealing will develop supported housing services to best meet identified need.

Private sector housing condition survey

The Private Sector Housing Condition Survey was carried out in 2010 by CPC Ltd on behalf of the council and published in mid 2011. It was a sample survey of 1,000 dwellings from a total private sector stock of 102,640 dwellings, and covered owner occupied and privately rented stock (excluding social rented housing).

The survey combined a physical survey of the characteristics and condition of the property, as well as socio-economic information. It also estimates the cost of making homes decent, regardless of the source of funding. This survey will help inform our housing strategy,  and other strategic documents. It also helps us to target limited resources to those areas, properties and residents in greatest need.

The Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) outlines the key market changes which have occurred since the 2009 study and the impact on the issues to be considered when setting future housing targets.

Asset management strategy

This Housing Revenue Account (HRA) Asset Management Strategy (ASM) has been developed to inform the strategic medium and long term approach to our housing assets. It sets out our vision for the housing stock and sets key priorities for the maintenance and improvement of the housing stock and how Ealing will continue to meet the needs of the borough, as well as looking at the key drivers in managing our assets. It has been specifically designed to meet Ealing's planning needs under the self-financing arrangements resulting from HRA reform.
