Public consultation
Why is Ealing Council doing a review
Ealing Council is reviewing where people vote (polling districts and polling places) to make sure everyone can use them easily, including disabled voters. The council is asking the public for feedback on current voting arrangements and any new proposals. You can see maps and existing polling station list (XLSX, 26.37KB) of the current voting areas and places.
What do the terms mean
- Polling district: a local area used for organising voting
- Polling place: the area where polling stations are located
- Polling station: the exact place where you go to vote. There can be more than one in a polling place
Main changes being proposed
The returning officer looked at the current voting arrangements and suggested 9 changes, mainly to improve access and replace temporary portacabins with permanent venues. These proposals are now open for public feedback:
- where possible, temporary polling stations (like portacabins) will be replaced with permanent, accessible buildings
- some polling districts will be merged or changed to make voting easier and fairer
