Most black plastic packaging is coloured using carbon black pigments, which the sorting systems in plastic recycling plants can’t pick up. This means anything made from black plastic usually ends up as rubbish and is sent to landfill or incinerated instead. The same applies for black bin bags – they cannot be recycled. Please make sure you do not put either in your recycling bin.
