UKSPF open call for high street events

The council and Ealing’s High Streets Task Force are inviting local event organisers to submit proposals to deliver year-round family-friendly events and activities across one or more of Ealing’s 14 high streets and town centres.

Applications are invited for event and activities to be delivered between November 2023 and March 2025.

Selected organisations will be awarded with grants of up to £5,000 for the delivery of each event.

The events could include themed or fun days, performances and live entertainment to provide an exciting and interactive offer for residents and visitors.

Proposals could include activities to be held across multiple areas, for example a series of pop-up activities, scheduled to move from one town centre to another, over a programmed time period.

Why are we doing this?

The council has secured funding through the Mayor of London’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to deliver a programme of events to improve pride in place, support local business, and provide opportunities for people to develop their skills.

What are we funding?

Funded activities must be free to attend. We want to hear your ideas, but this could include:

  • cultural events (such as performances, music)
  • craft activities (such as community murals)
  • markets
  • community picnics
  • sports events
  • outdoor cinema screenings
  • planting days
  • events to encourage residents to reuse, repair or recycle items (for example, clothes swaps)

Where do we want the events to be held?

We are looking for events to take place across each of Ealing’s 14 high streets and town centres, with at least one held in each area, in:

  • Acton town centre
  • East Acton neighbourhood centre
  • Ealing Metropolitan town centre (Central Ealing and West Ealing)
  • Greenford town centre
  • Hanwell town centre
  • King Street, Southall
  • North Acton Square
  • Northfield Avenue
  • Northolt (Mandeville Road, Church Road, Oldfield Circus)
  • Perivale (Bilton Road)
  • Pitshanger Lane
  • South Ealing
  • Southall town centre
  • Sudbury Hill

Applications that focus on one or more of the following objectives will be prioritised:

  • encourage and increase community involvement in Ealing’s high streets and town centres
  • bring together the community and increase high street and town centre footfall
  • activate an under-used or vacant space
  • bring a new activity or offer to a high street or town centre
  • bring together volunteers, including opportunities to learn new skills

What can the funding be used for?

The funding can be used to pay for:

  • staffing (for example instructors or facilitators)
  • volunteer expenses
  • insurance and licenses
  • equipment
  • catering
  • material costs (such as decoration, craft activities)
  • promotion and communications
