Street lighting

Ealing Council is responsible for most of the streetlights and illuminated signs on the public highway. Maintenance involves periodical cleaning, servicing, and testing. Night patrols are carried out twice a month all year round to identify faults and arrange repairs.

Reporting a problem

Report a street lighting problem online

If your query is an emergency or needs urgent attention you can telephone (020) 8825 6000.

There are over 23,000 lighting columns in the borough to maintain and residents are encouraged to report any problems they experience.

Alternatively you can telephone customer services on (020) 8825 6000. You will be asked:

  • your name and postcode
  • where the light is situated ie street name, the number of the house its outside or opposite
  • type of fault ie light out, flickering

The more information you can give the better. Most street lighting columns have a unique number at eye level facing the road.

Note: 'light out' problems are inspected during the day, so exact location or the light number must be given.
