If you are not happy with the decision on your local welfare assistance claim, you can ask for a review.
Before you start
There is no statutory right of appeal under the local welfare assistance scheme, but you can ask us to look at your case again.
You must do this within one calendar month from the date of the decision notice.

You will need
- local welfare assistance reference number
- to tell us why you want us to look at our decision again
- supporting evidence (if your claim was rejected because we do not have all the evidence needed or if there is new information)
Uploading supporting documents
You will be able to upload documents.
- accepted file types: Word (doc, docx), Acrobat (pdf), OpenDocument text (odt) Plain text (txt, rtf)
- we also accept photos taken on phones and tablets and the following image file types: bmp, gif, jpeg, png
- Zip and Excel (xls) files cannot be uploaded
What happens next
We will look at your application again. You will get an email or letter with the new decision.
Our decision is final, and there is no right to appeal to an independent tribunal.
Filling in the form
