Apply for the Martinware collective curatorship

This is a paid learning and development programme for 5 young creatives, based in Southall and Ealing borough.

Before you start

Complete this form if you:

  • are between 18 and 25 years old 
  • live in Southall or another part of Ealing borough or have links to these areas
  • have passion, creativity and a commitment to celebrating Southall and Ealing borough’s culture
  • have availability in September to December to take part

You do not need any experience in curation to apply.

We want to make this programme as accessible as possible to make sure that people from the broadest range of backgrounds can apply and take part. We welcome applications from those who are underrepresented in the cultural workforce, including people from the ethnic minority groups, the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, people with long term health conditions, carers or those from a low socio-economic backgrounds. 

The deadline for applications is 11:59pm on 10 June 2024.

You will need

  • To describe something you have created, for example artwork, exhibition, performance, poetry, a written review, using images or documents.
  • Explain why you want to be part of the curatorship 
  • Suggest an idea for a cultural event or project
  • CV (optional)
  • Explain any barriers you have experienced in developing an art career (optional)

We recommend that you prepare your answers offline beforehand, as each form page times out after 20 minutes.

Uploading supporting documents

You will be able to upload documents and images to support your application. This could be images of your work or a CV.

  • Accepted file types: Word (doc, docx), Acrobat (pdf), OpenDocument text (odt) Plain text (txt, rtf) 
  • We also accept photos taken on phones and tablets and the following image file types: bmp, gif, jpeg, png  
  • Zip and Excel (xls) files cannot be uploaded 

There is a limit of 15MB in total for all the files that you upload. Take care not to go over this as it may result in the form crashing or timing out.

We welcome submissions in different formats. The online form does not support audio or video uploads or links to websites. To send these, just fill in as much of the form as you can, then send any supporting files by email to reesw@ealing.gov.uk. Make a note of the form reference number when you send in this form and include that too. 

What happens next

An online webinar will take place on Microsoft Teams, 2pm to 3pm on Tuesday 28 May where applicants will have a chance to ask questions about the application process. Sign up to the Teams webinar

Interviews will take place on Microsoft Teams week starting 17 June.

We will email you by 24 June to let you know if you have been successful.
