If you are paid to walk dogs, you need to have a permit to use our parks.
Use this form to ask for permission to walk dogs in our parks.
Before you start
Read the terms and conditions for professional dog walkers.
Organisations can apply for up to 15 permits for their dog walkers.

You will need
- Name of individual or organisation applying
- Names of the park or parks you plan to use regularly
- The number of dogs and names of any dog walkers that will be using the permit
- Details of your experience, for example trade membership or reference details, if you are new to dog walking in the borough
- Details of any dog related convictions
- Emergency arrangements, for example details of the nearest accident and emergency, confirm that you will hold vet details for dogs in your care, incident reporting
- Method statement - walking procedure, transport details
- Risk assessment to identify potential risks and make sure the correct measures are in place to minimise the risks. For information on how to complete a risk assessment, visit managing risks and risk assessment at work on the HSE website
- Evidence of public liability Insurance of £5 million, including the number of dogs you are insured to walk.
Uploading supporting documents
You will be able to upload some documents. For example, proof of insurance and risk assessment.
- Accepted file types: Word (doc, docx), Acrobat (pdf), OpenDocument text (odt) Plain text (txt, rtf)
- We also accept photos taken on phones and tablets and the following image file types: bmp, gif, jpeg, png
- Zip and Excel (xls) files cannot be uploaded
What happens next
We will review your application within 15 working days. We may contact you to ask for more information.
We will issue you with a permit number, when your application has been approved and paid for.
We will add successful applicants to the list of professional dog walkers on our website.
This form should take around 30 minutes to complete.
Note: Each form page will time out after 20 minutes. Make sure your risk assessment and insurance documents are ready to upload.
