Employers in the borough have a duty to report some work-related incidents, diseases and dangerous occurrences to us under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR).
If you are a business, you should have an accident book to log any incidents in your workplace involving your staff or any members of the public such as customers.
The law requires certain workplace incidents to be reported when:
- an accident takes place that is work related
- deaths relating to a work-related incident
- specified injuries such as amputations, fractures (not fingers, thumbs or toes), crush injuries,. These are examples for more details on specified injuries visit link below.
- it results in an employee being off work for more than 7 days
- if a member of public is injured and taken to hospital and receives treatment
