The borough of Ealing has been accredited with Borough of Sanctuary Status by the UK charity, City of Sanctuary.
This recognises that the borough is a place of welcome and safety for sanctuary seekers fleeing war and persecution around the world.
In 2023, we passed a full council motion, stating our intention to join a network of local authorities that want to make their borough a place that individuals seeking sanctuary can call home. The diversity of the borough of Ealing has always been a source of pride for both the council and its residents, and we have a strong tradition of welcoming individuals seeking safety in our borough.
Strategy
A Borough of Sanctuary Strategy which sets out the council’s commitment and action plan to ensure support and advice is provided to those most in need has been developed with residents and voluntary, community and faith organisations in the borough.
The strategy includes an action plan to hold the council and other organisations to account.
Accreditation will be reviewed every 3 years.
