Apply for a personal carers parking permit

You can apply for a permit if you are caring for a resident who lives in a controlled parking zone (CPZ) and want to park there. 

Before you start

Complete this form if:

  • you are the person being cared for, lives in a controlled parking zone (CPZ)
  • you regularly visit to give care

A personal carers permit is only valid in residential permit holder bays. It is not valid for parking in pay and display bays, free bays, or on yellow lines.

A personal carers permit allows you to park for up to 3 hours.

Cost

Personal carers permit costs £10 for 12 months.

You will need

  • GP declaration letter, to prove they need care
  • Registration number, colour, make and model of vehicle
  • Vehicle registration document (V5C), sometimes called a log book

Uploading supporting documents

You will be asked to upload the GP declaration and the vehicle registration document.   

  • Accepted file types: Word (docx), Acrobat (pdf), Excel (xlsx), Plain text (txt)
  • Zip files cannot be uploaded
  • We also accept photos taken on phones and tablets and the following image file types - jpeg, gif, png
  • There is a maximum individual file size per document of 50MB. 

What happens next

You will get confirmation of your new permit reference number in My Account, within 10 working days. You can find this by going into ‘My transactions’ and then ‘Parking and travel’.

Permits are virtual (paperless), so you do not need to display anything in your vehicle.

You will be able to park in the CPZ from the start date of your permit, once it has been confirmed in My Account. 

If your application is unsuccessful, we will update you in My Account. 

This form should take approximately 4 minutes to complete.
