Traffic improvement schemes

The council has a duty to manage the road network to make sure it is safe for drivers, pedestrians and vulnerable road users.

Transport schemes are highlighted by residents, businesses, ward councillors or the council. They are prioritised to improve locations that need it most.

Each transport scheme is unique; designed to change the road environment and ultimately reduce congestion and increase road safety.  All schemes go through a very strict safety audit process.  Highway and safety measures are considered from the viewpoints of all road users.

Most of the transport improvement schemes in the borough are funded by Transport for London, with others paid for through developer funding (Section 106).
