Clothing and household textiles reuse and recycling

What happens to clothing and textiles from clothing banks?

Around the borough, you can donate unwanted clothes and textiles through TRAID clothing banks or by booking a free doorstep collection.

This service is provided through a partnership between the West London Waste Authority (WLWA) and TRAID. TRAID collects donations from homes and regularly empties clothing banks across the borough.

What happens to your donations?

All donations are taken to TRAID's warehouse, where they are sorted by hand.

TRAID's team checks every item and puts suitable clothing back into use. Tens of thousands of items are reused every week. Clothes in good condition are sold through one of TRAID's 12 charity shops.

How your donations help

Money raised from clothing sales supports TRAID's charity work.

TRAID works with partner organisations on projects that support people in the fashion industry. This includes projects linked to farms, factories and schools for workers' children.
