Regulation 3 of the Town and Country Planning (Brownfield Land Register) Regulations 2017 requires local planning authorities to prepare, maintain and publish registers of previously developed (brownfield) land by 31 December 2017.
The purpose of these registers is to provide up-to-date, publicly available information on brownfield land that is suitable for housing, to help provide certainty for developers and communities and encourage investment in local areas.
Government regulations and guidance sets out criteria to inform the production of the register.
Ealing's brownfield land register (version 1) is provided in 'CSV' format and is arranged and populated in accordance with the government's published data standard. It inculdes links to site plans (in the 'SitePlanURL' column). A general search can also be carried out from the council's online maps.
Brownfield land registers consist of a Part 1 and a Part 2. Local planning authorities have the power to grant brownfield sites permission in principle, a new stepping stone towards planning permission, by including them in Part 2 of the register, however at present no sites are included in Part 2 of Ealing's register.
