Guidance for prior approvals
You can perform certain types of work without needing to apply for planning permission. This is known as 'permitted development rights'.
Detailed information about permitted development rights is available on the Planning Portal.
Some properties do not have permitted development rights. This means that planning permission will be required in most cases if your property:
- Is a flat or maisonette
- Is a listed building
- Is in a conservation area
- Has an Article 4 direction in place.
