Community Review Panel

Join Ealing’s Community Review Panel

The Ealing Community Review Panel was set up in summer 2020, to give a voice to local people, offering residents an opportunity to comment on the design of developments in their area. The panel brings together 24 members with a passion for and knowledge of Ealing. It is chaired by Daisy Froud.

What is the Community Review Panel?

Ealing Council wants to make sure that both current and future residents and businesses benefit from the significant growth of housing and employment planned in the borough. The Community Review Panel helps to ensure that new development in the Borough is of the highest possible design quality, and meets the needs of people living, working and studying in the area, now and in the future. The panel plays an independent, advisory role in Ealing’s planning work, discussing issues including housing, transport, public and green spaces, and the local environment.

Panel members will meet about once a month to discuss development proposals and give their views. These discussions will be turned into a formal report and will feed into decisions made by the council. The panel’s recommendations will be taken seriously as a formal part of the planning process.

Who are we looking for?

The council is looking to recruit a further 8-10 members to the panel, and we are looking for people of all backgrounds and ages (18 or over). We are keen to have people on the panel who know their local area and who want to positively influence its future - whether you are a resident, student, employer, employee or visitor in Ealing. We especially want to hear from people who may not already be involved with a community group, and whose voice is not currently being heard. You do not need experience or knowledge in planning or architecture.

We’re looking for a broad cross-section of members, drawn from across the community, who:

  • bring a strong understanding of the local area and local needs
  • can provide constructive advice on proposals for development and change
  • will contribute in meetings, collaborate and respect the contribution of others in panel discussions.

Frame Projects is responsible for recruiting and managing the panel, to make sure that it is independent, properly briefed and able to effectively communicate its views to the council. They will provide panel members with the support needed for their role through free training sessions. These might include help with reading plans and maps, understanding the basics of urban design and development proposals, or confidence in getting your views across in panel meetings.

How can I get involved?
