Community Review Panel

The Ealing Community Review Panel (CRP) was set up in 2020 to support Ealing Council in achieving high-quality design and placemaking that reflects the priorities of local people. The panel is made up of 22 residents with a passion for, and knowledge, of the borough. Headed by independent chair, Daisy Froud, it brings local knowledge to the forefront, to provide insights into what the important outcomes of development are for those living within the area.

The CRP is facilitated on behalf of the council by Frame Projects, an external consultancy, to make sure  it remains independent, properly briefed, and able to effectively communicate its views to the council and applicant teams. Frame Projects provides panel members with the support needed to fulfil their role, including training, to ensure they are able to engage effectively with proposals.

The role of the panel

The CRP helps to ensure that new development in the borough meets the needs of people living, working and studying in the area, now and in the future. The panel plays an independent, advisory role in the council's planning work, discussing issues including housing, transport, public and green spaces, and the local environment.

The panel is an integral part of the pre-application process and an excellent opportunity for applicant teams to engage with local residents in a formal setting. As schemes reviewed by the CRP are at pre-application stage, the discussions held, and formal reports resulting from it, are shared confidentially with applicants and the council. These reports are only made public once a full planning application has been submitted.
